HOW TO USE ARBITER

Use Arbiter to petition infrastructural issues.

Once you have identified the issue, you can use location services to use your current location or use the map’s search bar to locate the issue on the map.

Create the petition where the issue is located by touching the location on the map which will open up a window. You can then choose a category that corresponds with the nature of your issue.

  • Roads and Traffic is for issues involving roads/streets/highways that are publically accessible.

  • Walkways is for issues involving paths that are publically accessible on foot.

  • Suggestion is used for how you want a location to be used in the future, for instance, the addition of a new building or repurposing of an existing building or land.

  • Other is for issues that do not fit the previously mentioned categories.

Press Fill Out Petition to add a title, description, and image. Titles and descriptions are mandatory fields. Use the title to briefly describe the issue and the description to further elaborate with details. An image can be added, but is not mandatory. Press Submit when you are done!

The petition can be signed as well as commented on.

Why it works

Posting petitions on the map is useful for allowing the user to specify the exact location of the issue at hand.

Furthermore, the transparency of Arbiter prevents multiple petitions of the same issue as well allowing responsible parties to respond to each issue just once instead of multiple times per report.
Of course, the transparency is not only more efficient, but will usher in a higher level of accountability.
